8 SPECIAL TIPS FOR MOSQUITO FREE LIVING

The mosquito problem is a world-wide problem, with more than 3,000 people dying every day from mosquito related diseases. That’s a staggering 3 million deaths every year and more than 250,000 people a day contract some sort of mosquito related illness.

I have suffered Malaria myself....so am very conscious of the danger of the common mosquito.

This report will provide you with proven tips for creating a mosquito free environment.

1        LIGHTING

All  interior and outdoor lighting must be set up in such a way, that it gives your trap the ultimate environment for a successful catch rate

A.  All exterior bulbs will need to be yellow – as this is a deterrent to mosquitoes.

B.  Blinds or shades drawn in bedrooms at night, and also the extremities of your house.

C.  Your main indoor living areas will need dimmers – especially if there are Café doors.

D.  If you do have isolated outdoor lights at the extremity of your property – they will need to be white. These will attract mosquitoes to the extremity of your property

2        WATER

Mosquitoes breed in damp and wet areas.

A.   The biggest culprits can be your simple balcony plants, with water trays - Unfortunately we tend to water very infrequently, and ideally, fresh water on plants should be daily, or at the most every third day. Give them a

good soaking so that the tray overflows.

B.   Any sort of possible water container – even to the extremities of your property should be emptied and left upside down.

C.   Blocked downpipes  - particularly on sheds, stay wet or damp, and should be cleaned out

3        SHADE

Thick shrubs- close to the house, should  be thinned out ( particularly clumps of thick shrubs ) Expose the ground areas around the plants as they can often remain damp, even through summer

4        CITONELLA PLANTS

It is vitally necessary that you plant Citronella plants in the gardens close to your house and living areas. Plant plenty of these and make sure they are close and touching other shrubs, as the moving and brushing of other shrubs on the citronella leaves will break open the citronella oils on the leaves of the citronella plants. Citronella is deterrent, in regard to mosquitoes.

5        HEAT.

On cooler days or evenings, you may want to have on some form of heating. You will not be able to have on ‘airconditioned heating’ ( if you wish to keep your cafe doors open ) as this moisture laden heat is a major attractant to mosquitoes.

If you need to use heat, try using outdoor gas lamps, as they create dry propane laden heat.

6        ELECTRONIC FREQUENCY

There are electronic devices that can be brought at your local hardware that emit various high frequencies to deter bugs and spiders etc. put several of these around the extremities of your house ( direct into your 240v power points)

These frequencies confuse mosquitoes.

The female mosquito emits a specific frequency ( the high pitched buzz you hear ) to attract other female mosquito to this blood source they have found…..’you’

The electronic devices confuse that frequency, and in turn stops the ‘message’ getting around.

7        CLOTHING

Wear bright coloured clothing while entertaining outside.

Dark clothing and dark moving clothes are an attractant

8        SWEAT

The general ingredients of sweat are Acetone, Ammonia, Lactic Acid, and Octenol

Avoid having any of these chemicals lying around. Acetone and Ammonia are used in cleaning products. Keep all your cleaning products in closed areas

And of course....you will need an efficient CO2 mosquito trap, to break the breeding cycle

If you do these 8 tips, your success rate will be enhanced enormously

Mike
